Does God Still Heal Today?

Posted: April 12, 2010 in Healing

This may be an easy question to answer theologically, yes He does. But what about reality, are people receiving their healings? A much more important question needs to be answered, “Does God heal through your prayers?” If you feel He does then keep praying, make intercessory prayer a top priority, the church needs more prayer warriors. If you feel He doesn’t; I’ve got good news for you, God’s Word can change this around. It’s all in one word… BELIEVE.

In the Gospel of Matthew chapter 9 there is a story of two blind men that were following Jesus. Before Jesus healed them he interviewed them to see if they were prepared for a miracle. During this interview it’s interesting to me that Jesus only asked one question. Why didn’t He ask more questions? Here are some questions that maybe you are asking yourself:

Have you been a good person?

Are confessing your sins and asking for forgiveness?

Are you making sure you come to church every Sunday?

Are you involved in ministry?

(Here’s my favorite) Are you obeying and submitting to your spiritual leaders?

Nope, Jesus didn’t ask any of these. He just asked one question, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” They answered with two words, “Yes, Lord.” Only two words, but combined together are probably the most powerful two words we can express, YES, LORD!

Do you believe God can heal anything and everything? Do you believe God hears you when you pray? Do you believe that God wants miraculous signs and wonders to follow us as believers? I DO!

These two blind men received their miracle because they had faith and believed that Jesus was able. God is not expecting us to be perfect before He will use us! He does expect us to believe. My heart’s desire is for all of us to become the type of believers Jesus talked about in Mark 16; And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.” Mark 16:17-18 (NIV)
Do you believe? If you do then it’s time for you, as a true believer, cast out some demons, speak in tongues to edify the church, stop being afraid to do something out of the ordinary because you know God is protecting you, and lay hands on sick people until they get well!!

Why is healing so important for today’s Christians? John put it this way; Jesus did many other miraculous signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book. But these are written that you may BELIEVE that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by BELIEVING you may have life in his name. John 20:30-31 (NIV) (emphasis is mine)

Keep on Believing!

PEACE

    Amen! Yes, God heals…
when the doctors look at you and tell you that your wife may not make it through this (ordeal) and that they have done all they can…But you still go to prayer believing that God is still in control and you remember that He has brought you out of other trials in the past…so you still believe….and God does deliver her from the valley of death…Yes, God does heal and does miracles every day, praise He’s holy name.

Hi Pastor, I read your message and I must confess I’m not believing as I should. I have let circumstances in my life cause me not only to doubt but to stop believing. Its not fun and its certainly not a good place to be. I want to be ready for when God decides to do a miracle in our lives, so I am choosing to BELIEVE. As the two blind men received their miracle because they had faith and believed that Jesus was able. I want to see and receive miracles too! (in other peoples lives & in my life too).

    • The wonderful thing about God is He is ready and willing to reactivate your faith. One miracle, one answer to prayer, one moment of hope can ignite the fire of the Holy Spirit with in you again. I am believing with you that God will show you His glory and you will begin again and be the woman of God you were created to be.
